Assessing future snow cover changes is challenging because the high spatial resolution required is typically unavailable from climate models. This study, therefore, proposes an alternative approach to estimating snow changes by developing a super-spatial-resolution downscaling model of snow depth (SD) for Japan using a convolutional neural network (CNN)-based method, and by downscaling an ensemble of models from the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6 (CMIP6) dataset. After assessing the coherence of the observed reference SD dataset with independent observations, we leveraged it to train the CNN downscaling model; following its evaluation, we applied the trained model to CMIP6 climate simulations.

Introduction: Intestinal microorganisms play an important role in the health of both humans and animals, with their composition being influenced by changes in the host's environment.

Methods: We evaluated the longitudinal changes in the fecal microbial community of rats at different altitudes across various time points. Rats were airlifted to high altitude (3,650 m) and acclimatized for 42 days (HAC), before being by airlifted back to low altitude (500 m) and de-acclimatized for 28 days (HADA); meanwhile, the control group included rats living at low altitude (500 m; LA).

Introduction: Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is a highly prevalent disease that causing systemic hypertension. Furthermore, altitude-dependent hypobaric hypoxic condition and Tibetan ethnicity have been associated with systemic hypertension independent of OSA, therefore patients with OSA living at high altitude might be at profound risk to develop systemic hypertension. Acetazolamide has been shown to decrease blood pressure, improve arterial oxygenation and prevent high altitude periodic breathing in healthy volunteers ascending to high altitude and decrease blood pressure in patients with systemic hypertension at low altitude.
