Background: Adjusting thickening agent proportions in nanoemulsion gel (NG) balances its transdermal and topical delivery properties, making it more effective for dermatophytosis treatment.

Methods: Carbomer 940 and α-pinene were used as model thickening agent and antifungal, respectively. A series of α-pinene NGs (αNG1, αNG2, αNG3) containing 0.

Purpose: Gastrostomy is the commonly used enteral feeding technology. The clinical risks caused by tube dislodgement and peristomal site infection are the common complications before complete tract maturation after gastrostomy. However, there is currently no relevant research to promote gastrostomy wound treatment and tract maturation.

Maximizing sorghum proteins printability: Optimizing gel formulation and 3D-printing parameters to develop a novel bioink.

Int J Biol Macromol

January 2025

Department of Food Science, University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, AR 72704, USA; Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering, University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, AR 72701, USA. Electronic address:

The objective of this study was to form sorghum protein gels and explore their application in 3D food printing. Sorghum proteins were used to prepare gels with concentrations of 15 %, 20 %, 25 %, 30 %, and 35 % (w/w) in 70 % ethanol. The gels were evaluated for their rheological and textural properties and utilized as bioinks for 3D printing.

In this study, water-soluble fraction (WSF), chelator-soluble fraction (CSF), and sodium carbonate-soluble fraction (NSF) were sequentially fractionated from pear pulp, of which physicochemical properties and hypolipidemic activities in vitro were evaluated. They showed distinct monosaccharide composition, surface morphology, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrums. WSF and NSF were identified as high methyl-esterified pectic polysaccharides with degrees of methyl esterification (DM) of 85.

Hydrogels of Poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) and Poly(N,N-dimethylacrylamide) Interpenetrating Polymer Networks as Dermal Delivery Systems for Dexamethasone.

Pharmaceutics

January 2025

Laboratory on Structure and Properties of Polymers, Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, University of Sofia, 1, J. Bourchier Blvd., 1164 Sofia, Bulgaria.

: This study is an attempt to reveal the potential of two types of interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) hydrogels based on poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (PHEMA) and poly(N,N-dimethylacrylamide) (PDMAM). These IPNs were evaluated for their potential for dermal delivery of the hydrophobic drug dexamethasone (DEX). : The two types of IPNs were analyzed for their rheological behavior, swelling characteristics, and drug-loading capacity with DEX.
