Experience gained in the treatment of acoustic neurinomas over a period of 43 years is presented. This is divided into three eras based on the prevailing knowledge and techniques. Advances in diagnosis, anaesthesia and microsurgical techniques have reduced the mortality to 4% in large tumours and to less than 1% in small tumours. With large tumours, facial nerve preservation has been possible only in 20% of patients. Large tumours continue to predominate, thus providing a formidable challenge. Saving life and the functions of the lower cranial nerves still form the main goal in the majority of patients who come with large tumours.

Background: The role of activating alterations in the MAPK pathway in predicting immunotherapy efficacy in lung squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) patients is largely unknown. The aims of the randomized, phase II SQUINT trial were to assess the efficacy of nivolumab plus ipilimumab (NI) versus platinum-based chemotherapy plus nivolumab (N-CT) and to identify clinically available biomarkers of response to immunotherapy in patients with advanced or metastatic LSCC.
Methods: SQUINT was an open-label, randomized, parallel, non-comparative, phase II trial of NI versus N-CT in chemo-naïve, metastatic or recurrent LSCC adult patients.

Introduction: Prostate cancer guidelines recommend molecular analysis of biomaterial following resistance to first-line systemic therapy in order to identify druggable mutations. We report on our results of molecular analysis of tissue specimens via next generation sequencing (NGS) in men with metastatic castration resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC).
Patients And Methods: In all, 311 mCRPC patients underwent NGS analysis from biopsy samples of progressive metastatic lesions or archival radical prostatectomy specimens.

Objective: To compare the clinical outcomes between radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and microwave ablation (MWA) for the treatment of T1N0M0 papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) in a large cohort.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective study included 1111 patients with solitary T1N0M0 PTC treated with RFA (n = 894) or MWA (n = 215) by experienced physicians. A propensity score matching was used to compare disease progression, including lymph node metastases (LNM), recurrent tumors and persistent tumors, recurrence-free survival (RFS), volume reduction ratio (VRR), and complications between the RFA and MWA groups.

Low-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma (LG-ESS) can present diagnostic challenges, due to its overlapping morphological features with other uterine mesenchymal tumors. Misdiagnosis rates remain significant, and immunohistochemical data for LG-ESS are limited to small series and inconsistent antibody panels. This study aimed to refine the IHC profile of LG-ESS by analyzing a large, molecularly confirmed series of 147 cases using a panel of 24 antibodies, including newer markers like transgelin and smoothelin.
