A small 14 amino acid oligopeptide tag (termed SV5-Pk) was fused onto the carboxy-terminus of simian immunodeficiency virus gp160 expressed from a recombinant baculovirus. The presence of the Pk tag had no obvious effect on the expression and glycosylation of gp160 and did not interfere either with CD4 binding or with cleavage at its maturation site by the protease furin. The presence of the Pk tag did, however, facilitate the simplified purification of full-length gp160 and its incorporation into immunogenic solid matrix-antibody-antigen (SMAA) complexes.

Superior mesenteric artery (SMA) aneurysms (SMAAs) are rare and account for approximately 7% of all visceral artery aneurysms. If the anatomical complexity permits and the patency of organ perfusion is allowed, then an endovascular approach is the first choice for minimally invasive procedures. We report the case of a 92-year-old female with a giant SMAA and challenging anatomy, including a short proximal sealing zone from the origin of the SMA and a short distal sealing zone from the hepatic artery bifurcation.

Background: Fenestrated endovascular aneurysm repair is an established customized treatment for aortic aneurysms with 3 current commercially available configurations for the superior mesenteric artery (SMA)-a single-wide scallop, large fenestration, or small fenestration, with the scallop or large fenestration most utilized. Outcomes comparing SMA single-wide scallops to large fenestrations with the Zenith fenestrated (ZFEN) device are scarce. As large fenestrations have the benefit of extending the proximal seal zone compared to scalloped configurations, we sought to determine the differences in seal zone and sac regression outcomes between the 2 SMA configurations.

Batteries are important for promoting renewable energy, but, like most engineered products, they contain multiple hazardous materials. The purpose of this study is to evaluate industrial-scale batteries using GreenScreen® for Safer Chemicals, an established chemical hazard assessment (CHA) framework, and to develop a systematic, transparent methodology to quantify the CHA results, harmonize them, and aggregate them into single-value hazard scores, which can facilitate quantitative comparison and a robust evaluation of data gaps, inconsistencies, and uncertainty through the implementation of carefully selected scenarios and stochastic multicriteria acceptability analysis (SMAA). Using multiple authoritative toxicity data sources, six battery products are evaluated: three lithium-ion batteries (lithium iron phosphate, lithium nickel cobalt manganese hydroxide, and lithium manganese oxide), and three redox flow batteries (vanadium redox, zinc-bromine, and all-iron).

Decision-making processes to ensure sustainability of complex agro-ecosystems must simultaneously accommodate production goals, environmental soundness, and social relevancy. This means that besides environmental indicators and human activities, stakeholders' perceptions need to be considered in the decision-making process to enable the adoption of mitigation practices. Thus, the decision-making process equates to a multi-criteria and multi-objective problem, requiring additional tools and methods to analyze the possible tradeoffs among decision alternatives based on social acceptability.

Objectives: Despite its broad spectrum, conventional amphotericin B (AB) is associated with serious adverse events. Lipid-based formulations may offer safer options. We aimed to synthesize the evidence of efficacy and safety of AB formulations.
