Purpose: A case of bilateral acute neovascularization of the optic disc and peripapillary epiretina of unknown etiology in a previously healthy 26-year-old woman is discussed.
Methods: The clinical course of the disease, investigation, and treatment are presented in detail.
Results: Histopathologic examination of epiretinal tissue removed from the second eye at vitrectomy provided evidence of inflammatory disease and suggested a possible etiology.
Conclusion: The cause of this patient's disease remains uncertain. Known causes of this disease were excluded as far as possible. Histopathologic examination of the epiretinal membrane from the second eye demonstrated an unusually increased inflammatory response and multiple intracytoplasmic inclusion bodies in neutrophils resembling mollicute-like organisms.

Purpose: To investigate the effect of average intraocular pressure (IOP) on the true rate of glaucoma progression (RoP) in the United Kingdom Glaucoma Treatment Study (UKGTS).
Methods: UKGTS participants were randomized to placebo or Latanoprost drops and monitored for up to two years with visual field tests (VF, 24-2 SITA standard), IOP measurements, and optic nerve imaging. We included eyes with at least three structural or functional assessments (VF with <15% false-positive errors).

Background: Autosomal Dominant Optic Atrophy (ADOA) is a hereditary optic neuropathy characterized by retinal ganglion cell degeneration and optic nerve fiber loss. This study examined the correlation between clinical and structural parameters in patients with ADOA using optical coherence tomography (OCT) and explored potential clinical biomarkers.
Methods: A cross-sectional, case-control observational study included 27 patients with ADOA and 27 age- and sex-matched healthy controls.

Objective: To report an unusual manifestation of normal tension glaucoma(NTG) in a young female as presenting feature of Takayasu arteritis (TA).
Methods: We present a case of a 24-year-old woman who was initially diagnosed with NTG, with characteristic optic disc and retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) changes, and corresponding visual field defects. Further evaluation with CT angiography revealed that the patient had newly diagnosed TA.
