The structural and nonstructural recombinant proteins of HSV type 1 and type 2 were expressed in E. coli by fusion with cro-beta-galactosidase proteins. These proteins containing amino acid sequences of ICP4, ICP27, ICP47, ICP22, major capsid protein and major DNA-binding proteins of HSV types 1 and 2 reacted in immunoblotting with the corresponding anti-HSV sera from hyperimmune rabbits. The nonstructural recombinant proteins can be used for enzyme immunoassay detection of HSV1 or HSV2 type-specific antibodies in sera from patients with acute HSV infection.

Influenza A viruses have been a threat to human health for the past 100 years. Understanding the dynamics and pathogenicity of the influenza viruses is of great value in controlling the influenza pandemic. Fluorescent protein-carrying recombinant influenza virus is a substantially useful tool for studying viral characteristics and high-throughput screening .

A critical aspect of vaccine development for DENV involves selecting proteins from both structural and non-structural regions of the virus to activate humoral and cellular immune responses effectively. In this study, we developed a novel vaccine for dengue virus serotype 2 (DENV2) using a heterologous Prime-Boost strategy that combines an adenoviral vector (Ad) with subunit vaccines.

Three throat swab samples from infants and young children in Hubei Province were identified as positive for enteroviruses. All subjects were one month old, and the onset of symptoms occurred in June; these cases were sporadic and exhibited no clear epidemiological associations. The results of VP1 gene amplification analysis indicated that all three infant cases were attributed to Echovirus 30 (ECHO30).

Coronaviruses (CoVs) encode non-structural proteins (nsp's) 1-16, which assemble to form replication-transcription complexes that function in viral RNA synthesis. All CoVs encode a proofreading 3'-5' exoribonuclease in non-structural protein 14 (nsp14-ExoN) that mediates proofreading and high-fidelity replication and is critical for other roles in replication and pathogenesis. The enzymatic activity of nsp14-ExoN is enhanced in the presence of the cofactor nsp10.

Senecavirus A (SVA) is the causative agent associated with porcine idiopathic vesicular disease (PIVD), a condition indistinguishable from other foreign vesicular diseases affecting pigs. This complicates differential diagnosis and impacts the global swine industry. A diagnostic ELISA based on a non-structural viral protein has been developed, capable of distinguishing infected from vaccinated animals (DIVA).
