Background: In large-scale molecular studies, a protocol that generates high yields and quality DNA for future polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays is needed. The collection of buccal cells by cytobrush may represent an efficient, noninvasive, and inexpensive method for obtaining genetic material from school populations. The aim of this study was to develop a method to obtain genomic DNA from buccal cells of schoolchildren, and the DNA was extracted immediately after collecting the buccal cell samples and after storing the samples for 8 months at -20 °C to establish the feasibility of the method for epidemiological studies.

Cervical cancer (CC) remains a critical public health issue, highlighting the importance of early detection. However, current methods such as cytological and HPV testing face challenges of invasiveness and low patient compliance. Exosomes, emerging as crucial in cancer diagnosis, offer promise due to their noninvasive, highly specificity, and abundant biomarkers.

CD93 is overexpressed in multiple solid tumor types, serving as a novel target for antiangiogenic therapy. The goal of this study was to develop a Cu-based positron emission tomography (PET) tracer for noninvasive imaging of CD93 expression. Antimouse-CD93 mAb (mCD93) and the CD93 ligand IGFBP7 were conjugated to a bifunctional chelator, -isothiocyanatobenzyl-1,4,7-triazacyclononane-1,4,7-triacetic acid (-SCN-NOTA) and labeled with Cu.

Topic Importance: Diffuse cystic lung diseases (DCLDs) represent a group of pathophysiologically heterogeneous entities that share a common radiologic phenotype of multiple thin-walled pulmonary cysts. DCLDs differ from the typical fibroinflammatory interstitial lung diseases in their epidemiology, clinical presentation, molecular pathogenesis, and therapeutic approaches, making them worthy of a distinct classification. The importance of timely and accurate identification of DCLDs is heightened by the impact on patient management including recent discoveries of targeted therapeutic approaches for some disorders.
