The authors describe an improved method for the prevention of ocular diseases in children, consisting in formation of risk groups starting from female consulting centers ("provisional" group), then at maternity hospitals ("provisional" and "reliable" groups), and then at the outpatient clinic after examination by an ophthalmologist ("actual" and "reliable" groups). This work does not require extra staff or finances, and it helps reduce the incidence of ocular diseases, poor vision, and blindness almost twofold.

Numerous studies have investigated the alterations of genes, proteins, and metabolites in Behcet's disease (BD). By far, little is known about the depiction of panoramic changes underlying this disease. This study purposed to assess the consistently dysregulated genes, proteins, and metabolites in BD across publications using the vote-counting approach.

Purpose: To develop an artificial intelligence algorithm to automatically identify the anterior segment structures and assess multiple parameters of primary angle closure disease (PACD) in ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) images.
Design: Development and validation of an artificial intelligence algorithm for UBM images.
Methods: 2339 UBM images from 592 subjects were collected for algorithm development.

Pharmaceutical excipients, commonly known as inactive ingredients, encompass any substance aside from the active ingredient that fulfills a distinct and vital role in a formulation. Their purpose is to enhance specific characteristics, whether associated with the performance of the formulation or aspects related to patient comfort, safety, and acceptability. Because of the limited toxicity studies provided, and the several allergic and toxic side effects that have been reported throughout the years, it is not trivial for the regulatory agencies to approve inactive ingredients for human use.

Current pharmacotherapy for DED is limited by a vicious inflammatory cycle in which reactive oxygen species (ROS) play a critical role. Additionally, topical eye drop therapy for DED often suffers from poor ocular availability due to multiple ocular surface barriers. Considering the key role of the ROS-NLRP3-IL-1β signaling axis in DED, in this investigation, fluorinated multifunctional polymer vesicles were developed for enhanced ocular surface penetration and synergistic DED therapy by combining ROS scavenging and immunomodulation.
