Objective: The purpose of this research is to discover a link between cigarette smoking and decreased red cell CD47 expression.

Subjects And Methods: The current cross-sectional study included 72 smokers (who had smoked 20 cigarettes per day for at least two years) and 50 nonsmokers, as well as nonsmokers who had not been exposed to smokers on a regular basis and chose to participate as controls. Due to exclusion criteria, 11 participants were removed from the study; they had various genetic, immune, and metabolic disorders, leaving only 61 healthy people in the study.

Myeloproliferative neoplasms are hematological disorders characterized by increased production in one or more myeloid cell lines, associated with driver mutations in and genes. The aims of this study were to investigate the prevalence of these driver mutations in a Norwegian patient cohort with myeloproliferative neoplasms, and to assess whether the different mutations were associated with different clinical presentation and natural history.Results from 820 patients in whom analysis for V617F and had been performed at Haukeland University Hospital in the period 2014-2019 were retrieved and analyzed together with clinical variables related to diagnosis, hematological blood parameters and complications, obtained from patient records.

Ischemic retinopathy characterized by neovascularization could result from several diseases such as proliferative diabetic retinopathy, hypertensive retinopathy, and retinal vein occlusion. However, ocular ischemic conditions caused by polycythemia have rarely been described. We report the first case of polycythemia-related proliferative ischemic retinopathy in a 41-year-old male heavy smoker who had ocular ischemic condition due to secondary polycythemia.
