The placental transfer of cefuroxime was studied in 20 women after one or more 1.5 g intravenous injections. Ten women had labour induced at term and ten were delivered by elective Caesarean section. High concentrations of cefuroxime were found in the cord blood and amniotic fluid and therapeutically active antibiotic levels were found in the infants for up to six hours after delivery.

Subclinical mastitis (SCM), a silent threat in the dairy sector of Bangladesh poses a significant economic impact and serves as a potential source of infection for healthy cows, hindering efforts to achieve milk self-sufficiency. Despite the importance of this issue, limited research has been conducted on mastitis in Sylhet region of Bangladesh. This study aimed to investigate the molecular prevalence, antimicrobial susceptibility profile and resistant genes detection on pathogens ( and causing SCM.

Public transport represents a potential site for the transmission of resistant pathogens due to the rapid movement of large numbers of people. This study aimed to investigate the bacterial contamination of frequently touched surfaces in the public transport system operating in the proximity of the biggest Czech hospital during the coronavirus pandemic despite extensive cleaning and disinfection efforts. In June and September 2020, samples from the metro trains, ground transport and stationary objects were collected, enriched and cultured.

Objectives: Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are an important cause of empiric antibiotic (over)treatment at the emergency department (ED). To enhance empiric antibiotic choices, mapping the national and local microbiology and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) patterns is crucial. This study aims to examine resistance patterns at a Brussels ED and to identify risk factors for AMR to evaluate current treatment guidelines and help combat AMR.

The human antibiotics cefuroxime (CXM) and azithromycin (AZI) are among the most commonly prescribed. A significant portion of both are excreted and has been detected in sewage treatment plant effluents. The increasing use of such effluents in crops for irrigation and as fertilisers poses a threat to soil microbiota because of the presence of antibiotics.
