A case report is given of a patient with an accessory choledochus duct opening into the gastric antrum. This is the fifth case reported in the literature. A short review is given about incidence of malformations of extrahepatic bile ducts, ontogenetic background and clinical relevance.

Unlabelled: infections (CDI) cause almost 300,000 hospitalizations per year of which ∼15-30% are the result of recurring infections. The prevalence and persistence of CDI in hospital settings has resulted in an extensive collection of clinical isolates and their classification, typically by ribotype. While much of the current literature focuses on one or two prominent ribotypes ( .

Ultrasonography is often used to diagnose biliary diseases in dogs; however, it is difficult to delineate the entire bile and pancreatic ducts. Various imaging techniques for bile and pancreatic ducts have been attempted to overcome this problem. Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) is often used to evaluate the bile and pancreatic ducts in humans with obstructive jaundice, but very few reports exist on its usage in dogs.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to evaluate the detection frequency and anatomy of the duodenal papillae and related structures in cats, using ultrasound on 50 cats.
  • - The major duodenal papilla was detected in all cases, while the minor one appeared in 10%. Key dimensions of the anatomical structures were measured in clinically healthy cats.
  • - Findings suggest that ultrasound exams of duodenal papillae are straightforward and can be an essential part of diagnosing conditions in feline patients.

Enterobacteriaceae possess eight TolC-dependent multidrug efflux pumps: AcrAB-TolC, AcrAD-TolC, AcrEF-TolC, MdtEF-TolC, MdtABC-TolC, EmrAB-TolC, EmrYK-TolC, and MacAB-TolC, which efflux bile salts, antibiotics, metabolites, or other compounds. However, our understanding of their physiological roles remains limited, especially for less-studied pumps like EmrYK-TolC. In this study, we tested the effects on swimming motility and growth under stress conditions of Escherichia coli mutants individually deleted for each inner-membrane transporter component of all eight TolC-dependent pumps, a mutant deleted for the AcrB-accessory protein AcrZ, and a mutant simultaneously deleted for all eight pumps (ΔtolC).
