Objective: This in vitro study aimed to analyze the effects of ionizing radiation on immortalized human osteoblast-like cells (SaOS-2) and further assess their cellular response in co-culture with fibroblasts. These analyses, conducted in both monoculture and co-culture, are based on two theoretical models of osteoradionecrosis - the theory of hypoxia and cellular necrosis and the theory of the radiation-induced fibroatrophic process.
Design: SaOS-2 cells were exposed to ionizing radiation and evaluated for cell viability, nitric oxide (NO) production, cellular morphology, wound healing, and gene expression related to the PI3K-AKT-mTOR pathway.

Importance: The use of antipsychotics, antidepressants, and benzodiazepines may influence the risk of mortality in people with schizophrenia. However, many observational studies have not accounted for immortal time bias (ITB), which occurs when there is a period during which patients in the exposed group are necessarily alive and misclassified as exposed (the period between start of follow-up and initiation of drug). Ignoring ITB may lead to misinterpretation of the association between these drugs and mortality.

Nano-titanium dioxide (Nano-TiO) is extensively utilized across various industries and has the capacity to penetrate human tissues through multiple biological barriers. The HaCaT cell line, as one of human immortalized keratinocytes, is usually used as a model for studying skin drug toxicology. The objective was to assess the toxic effects of nano-TiO on HaCaT cells and to trigger pyroptosis.

This study investigated the induction of DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) in the hTERT-immortalized normal human diploid epithelial cells (RPE1-hTERT) continuously exposed to 6000 Bq/ml of tritiated water (HTO) and organically bound tritium (OBT). The relationship of the DSBs induction with the intracellular amount as well as the localization of tritium was also examined. Tritium-labeled thymidine (3H-Thy) and palmitic acid (3H-PA) were used as OBT.

Chronic arsenic exposure can lead to various health issues, including cancer. Concerns have been mounting about the enhancement of arsenic toxicity through co-exposure to various prevalent lifestyle habits. Smokeless tobacco products are commonly consumed in South Asian countries, where their use frequently co-occurs with exposure to arsenic from contaminated groundwater.
