Vas previa remains one of the most unexpected and tragic accidents in obstetrics. The diagnosis is rarely made before delivery and, even when the condition has been recognized during labor on rare occasions, the fetal mortality has been extremely high. The fact that the fetus is at maximum risk while there is no maternal hazard at all makes this condition unique in obstetrics and demands that management be directed exclusively toward saving the baby. From a review of the literature an attempt has been made to see whether modern techniques of prenatal and intrapartum care can be used to improve the fetal salvage rate. This report also includes the report of a case with the usual fatal fetal outcome. A second case of velamentous insertion of the cord associated with a bilobed placenta is also reported. From 54 cases reported in the literature since 1952, it appears that the fetal mortality is likely to remain very high in this condition, at least for the foreseeable future.

Background: Our study aims to evaluate the umbilical vein (UV) hemodynamic change in the prenatal cohort of pregnancies diagnosed with abnormal placental cord insertion (aPCI).
Methods: From January 2022 to December 2022, the fetal umbilical cord insertion site was sonographically examined in singleton fetuses, and umbilical cord blood flow was calculated. The umbilical artery and UV Doppler flow indexes were assessed in cases of normal and abnormal cord insertion.

Introduction/purpose: It is well-documented in the literature that the placenta migrates during pregnancy; however, studies regarding placental cord insertion (PCI) migration are scarce. This longitudinal, prospective study aimed to determine whether PCI migration is a true phenomenon, to assess whether the PCI can change classification during pregnancy and to determine the validity of PCI site documentation including follow-up of abnormal PCI.
Methods: Eighty-three participants who had first, second and third trimester ultrasound examinations at a Western Australian private imaging practice over a 12-month period between November 2021 and November 2022 were recruited.
