AI Article Synopsis

Article Abstract

A program for the calculation of the median effective dose (ED50) and the slope of the dose-effect line was developed for a programmable calculator. The method employed approximated the solution described by Bliss. Experimental data were evaluated and compared to both hand calculated results and results of other computer methods. This method produced results which differed from other computer methods by less than 1 percent. This program provided information necessary for the test for parallelism and estimate of relative potency of two dose-effect lines.

A sensitized dual-response ratiometric fluorescent sensor integrated smartphone platform for accurate discrimination and detection of tetracycline (TC) homologues was fabricated based on N-CDs-Eu complex. In the sensing system, N-CDs act as a sensitizer of Eu and significantly enhance the fluorescence of TC-Eu complex approximate 40-fold owing to the synergistic effect of antenna effect (AE) and fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET). A paper sensor integrated with a smartphone platform is further fabricated for on-site measurement of TC.

Aim: As part of the development of a smartphone-based app for monitoring MS disease activity and progression (dreaMS, NCT05009160), we developed six gamified tests with multiple difficulty levels as a monitoring tool for cognition. This study quantified the relative difficulty between levels and investigated their reliability, ability to depict practice effects, and user acceptance.

Methods: Healthy volunteers played each game, covering five cognitive domains, twice per day for 11 consecutive days.

MXene-based multilayered and ultrawideband absorber for solar cell and photovoltaic applications.

We proposed the ultrawideband solar absorber using the multisized metal resonator oriented on the top of the multilayered Metal-SiO₂-MXene-MgF₂-Tungsten structure. We have carried out a numerical investigation of this structure for the 100-2500 THz frequency, which covers the infrared, visible, and UV spectra. The proposed solar absorber is numerically investigated for the different physical parameters, such as the height of the layers, unit cell size, and resonator orientation, to identify optimized results for the high absorption capacity.

Biofilms are critical for understanding environmental processes, developing biotechnology applications, and progressing in medical treatments of various infections. Nowadays, a key limiting factor for biofilm analysis is the difficulty in obtaining large datasets with fully annotated images. This study introduces a versatile approach for creating synthetic datasets of annotated biofilm images with employing deep generative modeling techniques, including VAEs, GANs, diffusion models, and CycleGAN.
