Introduction: Brucellosis is a widespread zoonotic disease that poses a considerable challenge to global public health. Existing diagnostic methods for this condition, such as serological assays and bacterial culture, encounter difficulties due to their limited specificity and high operational complexity. Therefore, there is an urgent need for the development of enhanced diagnostic approaches for brucellosis.

Background And Aims: Acute pancreatitis (AP) frequently presents in emergency departments and poses challenges in predicting severity and mortality. Established scoring systems like Ranson criteria, Acute Physiology And Chronic Health Evaluation II (APACHE) II, and Bedside Index of Severity in Acute Pancreatitis (BISAP) have varying effectiveness. Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), an enzyme released during tissue damage, shows promise as a marker for organ injury in AP.

Background: Association of serum vitamin D (vitD) with leptin (Lep) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) is not precisely known in overweight hypertensive (OW-HT) postmenopausal (PMP) women. Hence, the present study was carried out to investigate the body mass index (BMI)-based correlation of serum vitD with Lep and TNF-α in OW-HT PMP women.
Methods: Women subjects in their early PMP (n = 346, age: 51 - 60 years) categorized into three groups had main inclusion criteria of specified range of age, BMI and blood pressure (BP).

Acute ischemic stroke has an important place among emergency department admissions. After a rapid diagnosis of the patient admitted with a preliminary diagnosis of stroke, the necessary examination and first intervention should be performed, then diagnostic evaluation should be made. The aim of this study was to investigate whether paraoxonase-1 (PON-1) enzyme activity, measured in patients whose stroke onset is known, is a diagnostic biomarker for stroke by evaluating the relationship between stroke diagnosis, ischemic area volume, and stroke onset.

Background: Lead (Pb) could be toxic to the female reproductive system, and resveratrol (Res) may overcome this toxicity.
Objective: To investigate the Res impact on the catalase (), glutathione peroxidase (), and superoxide dismutase () gene expression in the ovary and on the Cat and Gpx enzyme activity in the serum of rats exposed to lead acetate.
Materials And Methods: In this experimental study, 33 female Wistar rats (8-10 wk, 180-200 gr) were divided into 6 groups: a control group (normal saline), a Res group (40 mg/kg), and a Pb group (lead acetate 30 mg/kg).
