Four serological assays for detection of antibody reactivity against surface antigens of benign and malignant cells have been evaluated. In all four assays, antibody attached to the surface of a target cell is detected by a rosette of indicator red blood cells. Of the four assays (antibody mixed hemadsorption assay, immune adherence assay, anti-C3 mixed hemadsorption assay and protein A assay), the anti-C3 mixed hemadsorption assay showed highest sensitivity. By using purified IgM and IgG fractions we could demonstrate that, except for the protein A assay, all assays show reactivity both with IgG and IgM. Protein A assay detected only the IgG fraction, with high sensitivity. The optimization of the four assays is described and the importance of using multiple assays is emphasized.

Background And Aim: The selection and proper application of disinfectants are crucial to the prevention of many diseases, so disinfectants must be evaluated before being used for the prevention of African swine fever (ASF). Three disinfectant products belonging to the group of potassium hydrogen peroxymonosulfates, product A and product B, and a quaternary ammonium compound called product C, were examined for host cell cytotoxicity and the efficacy of ASF virus inactivation. Human parainfluenza virus type 3 (hPIV-3) entry and intrahost spread through membrane fusion are initiated by two envelope glycoproteins, hemagglutinin-neuraminidase (HN) and fusion (F) protein. Background: The Redual PCI trial has demonstrated the safety of dabigatran and ticagrelor or clopidogrel combination in preventing strokes in patients with atrial fibrillation. There was 15.4% risk of hemorrhage in the dabigatran/ticagrelor or clopidrogel arm, lower than that of triple therapy with warfarin, aspirin and ticagrelor or clopidogrel.

The authors devised an efficient method for ticagrelor removal from blood using sorbent hemadsorption. Ticagrelor removal was measured in 2 sets of in vitro experiments. The first set was a first-pass experiment using bovine serum albumin (BSA) solution pre-incubated with ticagrelor, whereas the second set, performed in a recirculating manner, used human blood mixed with ticagrelor.
