Under analysis were the results of investigation of 262 retrograde femoral phlebographies and 86 popliteal phlebographies in the varicose disease of lower extremities. Fifteen healthy volunteers without diseases of lower extremities were studied as a control group in order to study the functions of valves in normality. A conclusion is made that retrograde femoral and popliteal phlebographies are the most valuable diagnostic tests for the detection and localization of incompetent valves of profound veins in the varicose disease of lower extremities.
