Pembrolizumab is a monoclonal antibody directed against the programmed cell death-1 (PD1) receptor, which binds to PD1 receptors on T lymphocytes and blocks their inactivation by tumor cells. Pembrolizumab is not free from side effects, a rare one of which is hypocorticism. Here we present a patient with pembrolizumab-induced hypocorticism manifested by a cerebrovascular event.

Enhancing the role of mass media in the translation of evidence from health policy and systems research in Nigeria.

Health Res Policy Syst

January 2025

Health Policy Research Group, Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, College of Medicine, University of Nigeria Enugu Campus, Enugu, Nigeria.

Background: There are massive gaps in communication between health researchers and policy-makers in Nigeria, which constrains the use of research evidence for policy-making. Mass media can help in bridging the gaps, especially since the media has the reach and a reputation for presenting information in ways that elicit actions from the public and policy-makers.

Objective: There is a small body of emerging literature from Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa, evidencing the usefulness of the media to encourage evidence translation in the health sector; and even evidence translation theories are light on dissemination.

Mass controls two major processes in volcanic islands: large-scale collapse and vertical movements. Therefore, large islands like Hawaii are gradually subsiding and have undergone massive landsliding. What if the mass is much smaller, and there is good evidence that the vertical movement is more complex than simple loading-related subsidence? Here, we show that small volcanic islands, seemingly stable because of the small mass, can undergo sector collapses that can affect the vertical movement of the island.

3D examination reveals increased destruction of alpha-actin-positive structures in advanced follicular lymphoma stages.

Acta Histochem

January 2025

Department of Molecular Bioinformatics, Institute of Computer Science, Johann Wolfgang, Goethe-University, Frankfurt/Main, Hessen, Germany; Institut für Allgemeine Pharmakologie und Toxikologie, Goethe University Frankfurt, Theodor-Stern-Kai 7, Frankfurt am Main 60590, Germany.

Follicular lymphoma (FL) represents the most prevalent subtype of non-Hodgkin's-lymphoma in Western Europe and the United States. While the examination of two-dimensional histological slides remains the gold standard method for diagnosing FL stages, three-dimensional analysis provides additional insights, particularly regarding cellular morphology, spatial relationships and network connectivity. This investigation assessed the tumor-related morphological destruction of fibroreticular cell (FRC) networks bordering germinal centres in FL.
