Taking into consideration the enlargement and sclerosis of the entire pisiform bone and the smooth articular surfaces of the pisotriquetral joint, the author has speculated that this may represent a nonspecific avascular necrosis with an as yet unknown cause.

Avascular necrosis (AVN) of the hip, a rare cause of pelvic pain in the third trimester of pregnancy, often presents with nonspecific symptoms that resemble common musculoskeletal conditions. This ambiguity, coupled with concerns about the safety of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) during pregnancy, can hinder timely diagnosis. We report a unique case of a 32-year-old primigravida diagnosed with a hip fracture and bilateral AVN of the femoral head in the immediate postpartum period, a complication seemingly not previously documented in pregnant patients.

Objective: To report the first examples of ectopic salivary glands of TMJ ligaments & capsules.
Methods And Materials: Nine subjects with chronic TMJ disorders were found incidentally to have ectopic salivary glands (choristomas) within or near damaged TMJ ligaments and capsules. Clinicopathologic characteristics of 12 TMJs are summarized.

A 62-year-old woman with a history of moderate myopia, long-standing open-angle glaucoma (OAG), and Fuchs dystrophy in both eyes was referred for consultative care. She had prior trabeculectomy in 1984 and 1992 in the left and right eyes, respectively. She is 3 months post-Descemet-stripping endothelial keratoplasty (DSEK) in the left eye, now referred with uncontrolled intraocular pressure (IOP) despite maximum tolerated medical therapy.
