The human Cell Line Activation Test (h-CLAT) is an in vitro skin sensitization assay adopted by the OECD as Test Guideline 442E. In the h-CLAT, 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB) is used as a positive control; however, DNCB is considered a poisonous substance under the Poisonous and Deleterious Substances Control Act in Japan since 2014 because of its high acute toxicity. Strict control, handling, and storage are required when using DNCB, which is a burden to the users.

Dictamnine and fraxinellone constitute the primary alkaloid and limonoid components in Cortex Dictamni, respectively. Both compounds exhibit anti-inflammatory properties. This study aims to assess the ability of dictamnine and fraxinellone in treating atopic dermatitis (AD) through in silico-, cell-, and animal-based experiments.

The objective of the present study was to investigate some commonly detected halogenated textile pollutants for their bioavailability and hazardous properties. Release into artificial sweat and skin absorption in vitro were examined as well as mutagenic effects by Ames test, and skin-sensitizing properties from a peptide reactivity assay combined with a cell test. All investigated compounds were shown to migrate from the textile into sweat and be absorbed by the skin, although to a different extent.

Evodiamine is an alkaloid found in Evodia fruits, a traditional Chinese medicine. Preclinical studies have demonstrated its anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties. The 2,4-dinitro-1-chloro-benzene (DNCB) was used to test the effects of evodiamine on a chemically induced atopic dermatitis-like model in BALB/c mice.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Yu-Ping-Feng-San (YPF) is a traditional Chinese medicine formula that has therapeutic effects on allergic diseases such as allergic rhinitis and asthma. However, its potential efficacy and mechanism in the treatment of atopic dermatitis (AD) has not been extensively illustrated.
Aim Of The Study: The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficacy and possible mechanisms of YPF in AD pathogenesis.
