The possibility of electrocardiographic diagnosis of infarction of the right ventricle is discussed. Twenty-four cases of right-ventricular myocardial infarction are cited which were diagnosed on the basis of electrocardiographic signs. In 9 cases infarction of the right ventricle was confirmed during autopsy. It is recommended that the ECG in patients with infarction of the myocardium of the posterior wall of the left ventricle is recorded in additional leads, V3R and V4R. The presence of signs of infarction on such ECGs in the absence of such signs in V1-2 leads indicates that the infarction of the posterior wall of the left ventricle has extended to the right ventricle.

Interventricular septal dissection secondary to acute inferior myocardial infarction: case series and literature review.

J Cardiothorac Surg

January 2025

Echocardiography and Vascular Ultrasound Center, The First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, 79 Qingchun Road, Hangzhou, 310003, China.

Background: Interventricular septal dissection is a critical disease characterized by the separation of the intraventricular septum into two layers, forming an intermediate layer with a cystic cavity that communicates with the root of the aorta or ventricle. It has low morbidity and high mortality rates.

Case Presentation: Case 1: A 58-year-old male with a history of hypertension and smoking presented to a local hospital due to chest tightness and pain for 4 days.

Identification and regulation of a novel leptin receptor-linked enhancer during zebrafish ventricle regeneration.

Life Sci

January 2025

TaiKang Medical School (School of Basic Medical Sciences), Wuhan University, Wuhan, China; Hubei Provincial Key Laboratory of Developmentally Originated Disease, Wuhan, China. Electronic address:

Aims: Vertebrates vary greatly in their abilities to regenerate injured hearts. Zebrafish possess a remarkable capacity for cardiac regeneration, making them an excellent model for regeneration research. Recent studies have reported the activation and underlying regulatory mechanisms of leptin b (lepb) and the leptin b-linked enhancer (LEN) in injured hearts.

: Left ventricular aneurysm (LVA) causes geometric changes, including reduced systolic function and a more spherical shape, which is quantified by the sphericity index (SI), the ratio of the short to long axis in the apical four-chamber view. This study aimed to assess SI's value in A-LVA and B-LVA, identify influencing factors, and evaluate its clinical relevance. : This clinical study included 54 patients with post-infarction LVA and used echocardiography to determine LVA locations (A-LVA near the apex and B-LVA in the basal segments), with SI and other echocardiographic measures assessed in both systole and diastole for the entire cohort and stratified by A-LVA and B-LVA groups.

To develop a computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) method for the classification of late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) cardiac MRI images into myocardial infarction (MI), myocarditis, and healthy classes using a fine-tuned VGG16 model hybridized with multi-layer perceptron (MLP) (VGG16-MLP) and assess our model's performance in comparison to various pre-trained base models and MRI readers. This study included 361 LGE images for MI, 222 for myocarditis, and 254 for the healthy class. The left ventricle was extracted automatically using a U-net segmentation model on LGE images.

Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome complicated with aspergillus endocarditis and multiple organ infarctions after glucocorticoid treatment in an immunocompetent man: a case report.

BMC Infect Dis

January 2025

State Key Laboratory for Diagnosis and Treatment of Infectious Diseases, National Clinical Research Center for Infectious Diseases, National Medical Center for Infectious Diseases, Collaborative Innovation Center for Diagnosis and Treatment of Infectious Diseases, The First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, 79 Qingchun Rd., Hangzhou City, 310003, China.

Background: Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is an emerging infectious disease characterized by leukopenia and thrombocytopenia, and aspergillosis is a common complication in severe cases. Previous studies have reported cases of SFTS complicated with invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA) and central nervous system aspergillosis. Here, we present the first case of an immunocompetent patient with SFTS who progressed to IPA and Aspergillus endocarditis after glucocorticoid treatment, and embolism of the vegetations from the left ventricle led to multiple infarctions in the brain, kidney, and spleen.
