Background: As an umbrella term, social prescribing offers varied routes into society which promise to support, enhance, and empower individual citizens to take control of their own health and wellbeing. Globally healthcare systems are struggling to cope with the increasing demands of an ageing population and the NHS (UK) is no exception. Chemicals are ubiquitous in modern life. More than 100,000 chemicals are currently used worldwide, and the production continues to increase. Background: Non-pharmacological interventions that improve cognitive functioning in patients with Alzheimer's disease will play a crucial role in the coming years to support their independence in daily living. Here, we investigated the potential of a novel smartphone-assisted real-world wayfinding training, tailored for older adults, to improve their spatial memory as one of the first cognitive functions affected by the disease. Spatial memory performance was assessed using a VR-based navigation task and the Gardony map drawing analyzer.

Background: Affective cognition and emotion processing is impaired in amnestic Alzheimer's disease (AD), although less is known about atypical (AT) variants such as logopenic variant primary progressive aphasia (lvPPA) and posterior cortical atrophy (PCA). The affective blindsight pathway bypasses V1 via the superior colliculus-pulvinar route to activate the amygdala in cases of occipital lesioning and may explain maintenance of emotion identification and visual information processing in non-amnestic AD despite atrophy in visuospatial regions. We sought to characterize functional connectivity from key regions along the affective blindsight pathway in a clinically heterogeneous AD cohort.

CDK2 plays a pivotal role in controlling the cell cycle progression in eukaryotes and for this reason, it has been the subject of several studies for suitable inhibitors in the last decades. But more than 30 years of basic research have not generated an inhibitor as marketed drugs. Some inhibitors are to date in early phase clinical development.
