We hypothesized that human chorionic gonadotropic (hCG) could replace LH in the maturation media for buffalo oocytes, and hCG administration before ovum pick-up (OPU) enhances in-vitro development of buffalo oocytes. Objectives were 1) to investigate the effect of hCG supplementation on nuclear maturation, oocyte development, and granulosa cell mRNA abundance of genes related to growth and antioxidant pathways and 2) to determine the effect of hCG administration before OPU on in-vitro oocyte development. Infertility in hyperprolactinemic females is attributed to the dysregulation of GnRH release, subsequently affecting gonadotropin levels, and ultimately leading to anovulation. However, in addition to the hypothalamus, prolactin receptor (PRLR) is expressed in ovaries as well, suggesting potential local effects of PRL in cases of hyperprolactinemia. We have developed an experimental model of sulpiride (SPD)-induced hyperprolactinemia using a wild rodent, the plains vizcacha, and studied the implications of pharmacological PRL levels on folliculogenesis and steroid production.

EDC exposure is linked to various endocrine diseases, especially in reproduction, although the mechanisms remain unclear and effects vary among individuals. Neuroinflammation, particularly hypothalamic inflammation, is an emerging research area with implications for endocrine-related diseases like obesity.

Comprehensive understanding of reproductive hormones and environmental cues with their relationship is essential for efficient production in livestock sectors involving either assisted or natural reproductive methods. This study evaluated the effects of age and seasonal-associated changes in the blood concentrations of testosterone and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) of male Kalahari Red (KR) and Kalawad (KW)-crossbred goats. Based on a 2 × 3 × 4 factorial arrangement, a total of 42 bucks (KR n = 21 and KW n = 21) were allotted into three age groups (> 1 ≤ 2 years, > 2 ≤ 3 years and > 3 ≤ 4 years) with seven KR bucks and seven KW bucks each per age group; reared under different seasons (early rainy, late rainy, early dry and late dry).

Luteinizing hormone (LH), a heterodimeric glycoprotein produced by pituitary gonadotrope cells, regulates gonadal function. Hypothalamic gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) stimulates LH synthesis and secretion. GnRH induces LHβ subunit (Lhb) expression via the transcription factor, early growth response 1 (EGR1), acting on the Lhb promoter.
