Imaging in patients with Paget's disease of bone is very important clinically to show the presence of Pagetic abnormalities, assess disease progression, and identify adversely affected structures throughout disease course. Abnormalities and progression may be seen on radiographs, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and nuclear imaging. Herein, we report a case Paget's disease of bone showing diffuse characteristic pathology using technetium-99m-labelled diphosphonate tracer in bone scintigraphy (nuclear imaging).

Cardiac amyloidosis is a restrictive infiltrative cardiomyopathy burdened by high mortality. The two more common forms are immunoglobulin light-chain amyloidosis and transthyretin-related amyloidosis with different prognoses and treatments. However, distinguishing between them is challenging.

Objective: Hybrid cameras that combine SPECT and helical CT can be used to correlate scintigraphic information with morphologic information in one imaging session. The purpose of this study was to investigate, in comparison with the value of scintigraphy and SPECT alone, the incremental diagnostic value of skeletal SPECT/CT in the care of patients with pain of the extremities.

Materials And Methods: Seventy-one patients without cancer who had pain in the extremities underwent three-phase bone scintigraphy and SPECT/CT of either the upper (n = 20) or the lower (n = 51) extremities.

Outcome of routine bone scintigraphy in suspected scaphoid fractures.

Injury

October 2005

Department of Traumatology, Medisch Centrum Haaglanden, The Hague, The Netherlands.

Unlabelled: Undisplaced scaphoid fractures are easily missed on conventional scaphoid radiographs, but these occult fractures may seriously impair hand function. Routine bone scintigraphy (BS) is often advocated if there are clinical signs of a scaphoid fracture without radiological evidence. However, the results require careful therapeutic management.

The impact of naproxen treatment on juxta-articular hemodynamics and bone metabolism in experimental juvenile arthritis was studied in the articular carrageenan injection model. Unilateral gonarthritis was induced for 12 weeks in eight dogs receiving naproxen (dosage, 2 mg/kg) and eight controls. Regional blood flow was assessed by the microsphere method, plasma volume by the distribution space of [125I]fibrinogen, and bone metabolism by the 2-h uptake of [99mTc]diphosphonate ([99mTc]DPD).
