We have developed a centrifugal analyzer with both fluorescence/light-scatter and conventional absorbance optics. The instrument is used in this investigation to study the formation of antigen-antibody complexes by light scattering and turbidimetric measurements, and to develop assays for human immunoglobulins G, A, and M. Concentrations are calculated from a nonlinear least-squares fit of calibrators, and antigen excess is automatically detected from kinetic curve characteristics. Precisions and patients' results are presented, and assay sensitivity and reliability in the detection of antigen excess are compared. We also investigated the effects of centrifugal force on complex formation. Both nephelometry and turbidimetry can be very satisfactorily adapted to centrifugal analyzers. We present a model to describe the observed differences between the light-scatter and the turbidity data.

Purpose: Rapid determination of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) glucose and lactate is required by emergency rooms and intensive care units. Long turnaround time (TAT) on test results negatively impacts timely diagnosis and treatment of neurological infections like meningitis.
Methods: The CSF glucose and lactate assays were evaluated on a blood gas analyzer, Radiometer ABL90 Flex Plus.

This study aimed to explore the flavor formation mechanism of Diqing Tibetan pig hams by investigating changes of their physicochemical and volatile flavor compounds during fermentation (0, 30, 90, 180, 360, and 540d) using amino acid analyzer , texture profile analysis, and gas chromatography-ion mobility spectroscopy (GC-IMS). During fermentation, the hams significantly decreased in moisture and centrifugal loss, while increased in chewiness, hardness, and proteolysis index, with their free amino acids content reaching the maximum at 360d and significantly decreasing at 540d. GC-IMS identified 78 volatile organic compounds, with the highest total content of alcohols and aldehydes at 180d, ketones and heterocycles at 360d, and esters at 540d.

A real-time centrifugal microfluidic chip with a companion analyzer was developed for highly sensitive, multiplexed nucleic acid detection based on RPA (recombinase polymerase amplification) isothermal amplification. In order to improve the detection sensitivity, two different optimization strategies were systematically studied. Witnessing the high viscosity of RPA reagent, one way was to improve the amplification efficiency by intentionally introducing active mixing based on centrifugal actuation.
