The present study aims to better understand the nature of currently circulating GPV strains and their pathological impact on the immune system during natural outbreaks among different duck breeds in Egypt. For this purpose, 99 ducks (25 flocks) of different breeds, aged 14-75 days, were clinically examined, and 75 tissue pools from the thymus, bursa of Fabricius, and spleen were submitted for virus detection and identification. Clinical and postmortem findings were suggestive of GPV infection.

Background/objectives: The rise of antibiotic-resistant pathogens has become a global health crisis, necessitating the development of alternative antimicrobial strategies. This study aimed to optimize the antibacterial effects of essential oils (EOs) from , , and , enhancing their efficacy through optimized mixtures.
Methods: This study utilized a simplex-centroid design to optimize the mixture ratios of EOs for maximal antibacterial and antioxidant effectiveness.

Oxidative stress refers to the phenomenon in which the redox balance of the body is disrupted in response to stimuli, leading to an excessive accumulation of reactive oxygen species in vivo, which can lead to a variety of diseases. In contrast to artificial antioxidants, whose safety is controversial, natural antioxidants, which are widely available, pharmacologically active, and have little toxic side effects, are expected to be candidates for the treatment of oxidative stress-related diseases. While highly morbid forms of chronic graft versus host disease (cGVHD) and severe late effects of allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT) can impact children and adults alike, unique considerations arise in pediatric cases regarding diagnosis, monitoring, treatment, and likelihood of resolution. As children can present with atypical features of cGVHD, and with more significant disease due to inability to communicate symptoms, they may be at increased risk for highly morbid forms of cGVHD and incur greater subsequent late effects, which may be more pronounced in those with underlying chromosomal breakage syndromes, with higher prevalence in pediatric HCT recipients. The long-term effects of cGVHD and its therapies include impaired immune reconstitution, leading to increased risks of infection and secondary malignant neoplasms.

The parasite of the genus Leishmania is the causative agent of diseases that affect humans called leishmaniasis. These diseases affect millions of people worldwide and the currently existing drugs are either very toxic or the parasites acquire resistance. Therefore, new elimination mechanisms need to be elucidated so that new therapeutic strategies can be developed.
