Abdominopelvic lymphadenography conducted with due care in a patient with miliary TB and anergy to tuberculin ruled out alterations attributable to retroperitoneal lymphomatosis, and revealed a picture of miliary lymphadenitis. Splenectomy induced positivisation of the reaction to tuberculin and paved the way for a favourable response to anti-TB chemotherapy.

We currently perform noncontrast lymphatic ultrasound, which has a higher resolution and is less invasive than contrast lymphatic ultrasound. This study aimed to clarify the usefulness of screening lymphatic ultrasound (SLUS) to evaluate lymphatic function. A retrospective study was conducted on 22 patients with leg lymphedema.

Primary Lymphedema: Anatomically Isolated or a Pervasive Systemic Disorder?

Plast Reconstr Surg Glob Open

December 2024

From the Department of Plastic Surgery, Center for Lymphedema Research and Reconstruction, Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH.

Background: Primary lymphedema, a condition characterized by impaired lymphatic function, has long remained underexplored. Current diagnostic approaches rely on clinical history and genetic testing, yet the genetic underpinnings remain elusive in many cases. Traditional thinking suggests that primary lymphedema is confined to specific anatomical regions, but our experience challenges this notion.

Background: Lymphedema diagnosis relies on effective imaging of the lymphatic system. Indocyanine green (ICG) lymphography has become an essential diagnostic tool, but globally accepted protocols and objective analysis methods are lacking. In this study, we aimed to investigate artificial intelligence (AI), specifically convolutional neural networks, to categorize ICG lymphography images patterns into linear, reticular, splash, stardust, and diffuse.

Sentinel lymph node imaging and biopsy is important to clinical assessment of cancer metastasis, and novel non-radioactive lymphographic tracers have been actively pursued over the years. Here, we develop gold molecular clusters (Au) functionalized by phosphorylcholine (PC) ligands for NIR-II (1000-3000 nm) fluorescence imaging of draining lymph nodes in 4T1 murine breast cancer and CT26 colon cancer tumor mouse models. The Au-phosphorylcholine (Au-PC) probes exhibit 'super-stealth' behavior with little interactions with serum proteins, cells and tissues in vivo, which differs from the indocyanine green (ICG) dye.

Endoscopic classification and pathological features of primary intestinal lymphangiectasia.

World J Gastroenterol

June 2022

Department of Gastroenterology, Beijing Shijitan Hospital, Capital Medical University, Beijing 100038, China.

Background: The appearance of the intestinal mucosa during endoscopy varies among patients with primary intestinal lymphangiectasia (PIL).

Aim: To classify the endoscopic features of the intestinal mucosa in PIL under endoscopy, combine the patients' imaging and pathological characteristics of the patients, and explain their causes.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the endoscopic images of 123 patients with PIL who were treated at the hospital between January 1, 2007 and December 31, 2018.
