The protein kinase TAOK3, belongs to the MAP kinase family, is one of three closely related members, namely TAOK1, TAOK2, and TAOK3. We performed a pan-cancer investigation of TAOK3 across different cancer types, including uterine carcinosarcoma, adenocarcinoma of the stomach and pancreas, and endometrial carcinoma of the uterus, to better understand TAOK3's role in cancer. In at least 16 types of cancer, our findings indicate that TAOK3 expression levels differ considerably between normal and tumor tissues.

Neuropilin 1 (NRP1/CD304) is a typical membrane-bound co-receptor for vascular endothelial growth factor, semaphorin family members and viral severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). However, NRP1 expression levels across cancer types and the potential role of SARS-CoV-2 infection in patients with cancer are not clear. Online databases, such as The Cancer Genome Atlas database of Human Protein Atlas, Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis and cBioPortal were used for the expression analysis in this study.

Article Synopsis
  • APOBEC type 3C (A3C) is identified as a potential cancer biomarker for lower-grade gliomas (LGGs), but its specific role in improving clinical outcomes through immunotherapy is still unclear.
  • Research utilized RNA sequencing and bioinformatic analyses to find that A3C is expressed significantly higher in LGGs compared to normal tissues, making it an independent predictor for patient prognosis.
  • The study also discovered that A3C is associated with immune cell infiltration and chemotherapy sensitivity, suggesting that targeting A3C could improve immunotherapy effectiveness for LGGs.

Carcinosarcoma is an aggressive malignant neoplasm separate from adenocarcinoma with need for a radical early treatment for good response and survival. Less than 75 cases have been reported worldwide. Here, we report a case of an asymptomatic carcinosarcoma of stomach in a lady in her 70's presenting incidentally who underwent distal gastrectomy with Billroth II reconstruction for a large epigastric mass along with a review of literature.
