Drug allergy encompasses a spectrum of immunologically-mediated hypersensitivity reactions (HSRs) with varying mechanisms and clinical presentations. This type of adverse drug reaction (ADR) not only affects patient quality of life, but may also lead to delayed treatment, unnecessary investigations, and increased morbidity and mortality. Background: Fluticasone propionate is a synthetic trifluoro-substituted glucocorticoid, a highly selective glucocorticoid receptor agonist. Fluticasone propionate nebuliser suspensions is an inhaled corticosteroid with the low systemic bioavailability which provides a low risk (benefit outcome without the adverse effects that accompany systemically administered corticosteroids), referred as a first-line preventive agent for patients with persistent asthma. China has become one of the countries with the highest asthma mortality rate in the world in the past years.

Rationale: Wildlife scientists are quantifying steroid hormones in a growing number of tissues and employing novel methods that must undergo validation before application. This study tested the accuracy and precision of liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) methods for use on blubber samples from short-finned pilot whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus). We expanded upon a method for corticosteroid quantification by adding analytes and optimizing internal standard (IS) application.
