- Brain tumors (BT), both benign and malignant, pose a substantial impact on human health and need precise and early detection for successful treatment. Analysing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) image is a common method for BT diagnosis and segmentation, yet misdiagnoses yield effective medical responses, impacting patient survival rates. Recent technological advancements have popularized deep learning-based medical image analysis, leveraging transfer learning to reuse pre-trained models for various applications.

Changes in the Microbiome During Chronic Rhinosinusitis.

Pathogens

December 2024

Department of Otolaryngology and Laryngological Oncology, Poznań University of Medical Sciences, Przybyszewskiego 49 St., 60-355 Poznań, Poland.

Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a common inflammatory disease of the paranasal sinuses with a yet unknown etiology. As studies continue to elucidate the disease's heterogeneity inflammatory profile and presentation, there is a growing interest in the influence of the nasal microbiome on disease pathogenesis and chronicity. The sinus microbiota appear dominated by the and genera; known upper airway pathogens, such as , are present in the upper airways of healthy individuals, though at relatively lower abundances than in CRS patients.

Fluorescence imaging has been widely used in fields like (pre)clinical imaging and other domains. With advancements in imaging technology and new fluorescent labels, fluorescence lifetime imaging is gradually gaining recognition. Our research department is developing the CAM, based on the Current-Assisted Photonic Sampler, to achieve real-time fluorescence lifetime imaging in the NIR (700-900 nm) region.

Neurofibromatosis is a genetic disorder arising de novo or with an autosomal dominant transmission that typically presents either at birth or in early childhood, manifesting through distinctive clinical features such as multiple café-au-lait spots, benign tumors in the skin, bone enlargement, and deformities. This literature review aims to resume the spectrum of maternal and fetal complications encountered in pregnant women with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). Thorough research was conducted on databases such as Web of Science, PubMed, Science Direct, Google Scholar, and Wiley Online Library.

Prostate cancer, a leading cause of cancer-related mortality among men, often presents challenges in accurate diagnosis and effective monitoring. This systematic review explores the potential of exosomal biomolecules as noninvasive biomarkers for the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment response of prostate cancer. A thorough systematic literature search through online public databases (Medline via PubMed, Scopus, and Web of science) using structured search terms and screening using predefined eligibility criteria resulted in 137 studies that we analyzed in this systematic review.
