Unlabelled: The effect of gliclazide on platelet activity was investigated and compared to that of tolbutamide and glipizide.

In Vitro Studies: adenosine diphosphate induced human platelet aggregation was inhibited by gliclazide in high concentrations (0.5--2.0 mg/ml). In the same concentration range tolbutamide exhibited a slightly less pronounced inhibitory effect. Collagininduced human platelet aggregation was inhibited by gliclazide, glipizide and tolbutamide in a concentration range of 0.5--2.0 mg/ml. Gliclazide had a similar effect on rabbit platelets. In vivo studies: Both acute and seven days administration of gliclazide to rabbits resulted in prolonged primary and total hemostatic plug formation time both in arterioles and venules. Similar results were obtained with tolbutamide and glipizide. Experiments with laser-induced platelet plug formation in the rabbit ear chamber demonstrated that 100 mg gliclazide/kg body weight and 25 mg gliclazide/kg body weight during 7 days significantly reduced the number of platelet emboli formed during 10 minutes after laser injury.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors have improved the treatment of metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC), with the combination of nivolumab (NIVO) and ipilimumab (IPI) showing promising results. However, not all patients benefit from these therapies, emphasizing the need for reliable, easily assessable biomarkers. This multicenter study involved 116 advanced RCC patients treated with NIVO + IPI across nine oncology centers in Poland.

Objective: In advanced ovarian cancer, the majority of patients receive anti-angiogenic treatment with bevacizumab. However, its use is often associated with severe side effects, and not all patients benefit from the therapy. Currently, there are no reliable biomarkers to predict response to treatment.

Department of Laboratory Medicine, Shanxi Bethune Hospital, Shanxi Academy of Medical Sciences, Tongji Shanxi Hospital, Third Hospital of Shanxi Medical University, Taiyuan, 030032, China.

Hematological parameters available on automated hematology analyzers have been shown to be useful indicators for hematological disorders. However, extensive studies especially in aplastic anemia for these indices are sparse. Our aim was to investigate the clinical utility of hematological parameters in aplastic anemia.

Background: Parkinson's Disease (PD) often presents with a compromised blood-brain barrier (BBB), which hyperglycemia may exacerbate. Pericytes, a key cell for BBB integrity, are potential therapeutic targets for neurodegenerative disorders. Few studies have developed 3D PD cell models incorporating neurovascular units (NVU) through the co-culture of human endothelial, pericytes, astrocytes, and SH-SY5Y cells to evaluate BBB impairment and the role of pericytes under hyperglycemic condition.

Background: Injectable platelet-rich fibrin (i-PRF) has the capacity to release great amounts of several growth factors, as well as to stimulate increased fibroblast migration and the expression of collagen, transforming growth factor β, and platelet-derived growth factor. Consequently, i-PRF can be used as a bioactive agent to promote periodontal tissue regeneration.

Objective: We aim to compare and evaluate the effectiveness of i-PRF in periodontal tissue regeneration.
