Background: While many COVID-19-induced anosmia patients recover their sense of smell within a few months, a substantial number of them continue to experience olfactory impairment. In our primary study, the metabolic patterns in orbitofrontal cortex (OFC) were observed to exhibit more alterations than other regions. Hence, this study specifically probes into alterations within OFC region in subjects with persistent COVID-19-induced anosmia.

Chemical investigation on the secondary metabolites of Aspergillus aculeatus led to the identification of ten modified fusicoccane-type diterpenoids aculeanoids A-J (1-10). Their structures and absolute configurations were characterized by comprehensive spectroscopic analysis, DP4+ analysis, Mo(OAc)-induced ECD, single-crystal X-ray diffractions, and ECD calculations. Compounds 1-4 belong to a rare class of 17-nor fusicoccane diterpenoids, with only one previously reported example.

Chemical communication between marine bacteria and their algal hosts drives population dynamics and ultimately determines the fate of major biogeochemical cycles in the ocean. To gain deeper insights into this small molecule exchange, we screened niche-specific metabolites as potential modulators of the secondary metabolome of the roseobacter, . Metabolomic analysis led to the identification of a group of cryptic lipids that we have termed roseoceramides.

Integration of resistance indicators, metabolomes, and transcriptomes to elucidate that there is a positive correlation between disease susceptibility and cold tolerance in tea plants. The flavonoid pathway was found to be the major metabolic and transcriptional enrichment pathway. A key domain NB-ARC was identified through joint analysis, along with analysis of key domains within the NB-ARC protein.
