The present paper describes a homozygote patient for the gene of hemoglobin S. The patient is the first child of non-consanguineous parents. The family study revealed 11 heterozygote subjects for the sickle cell disease.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the surgical outcomes of women undergoing vaginal hysterectomy with and without morcelation.

Patients And Method: Between December 1999 and December 2000, 216 women underwent vaginal hysterectomy without laparoscopic assistance at the Department of Gynecology of Hôtel-Dieu hospital in Paris. The patients were divided into two groups: 114 of them underwent vaginal hysterectomies with morcelation whereas 102 underwent vaginal hysterectomies without morcelation.

From November 1990 to March 1995, 26 simultaneous pancreas-kidney (SPK) transplants were carried out. The recipients were uremic type I diabetic patients. After the first year of transplantation, patient survival was 96% and pancreas and kidney survival was 69% and 84%, respectively.
