The Authors present two cases of atypical depression with prevalently or exclusively somatic symptomatology. They discuss successively on the significance of latent and masked depressions and depressing equivalents, underlining the remarkable importance of the problem also for practical doctors and non-specialists. In fact, the presence of cases like this type is common and for a correct therapeutic statement an exact diagnostic formulation is indispensable.
