Vericiguat improves cardiac remodelling and function in rats with doxorubicin-induced cardiomyopathy.

ESC Heart Fail

January 2025

School of Clinical Medicine, Fujian Medical University, Department of Cardiology, Affiliated Hospital of Putian University, Putian, China.

Purpose: Vericiguat, a soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC) stimulator, has been demonstrated effective in improving prognosis of patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. However, there are limited data concerning the effect of vericiguat in patients with doxorubicin (DOX)-induced cardiomyopathy (DIC). In this study, we investigated the effects of vericiguat on cardiac structure and function in rats with DIC as well as their potential mechanisms of action.

Catalytic subunit of DNA polymerase ζ (REV3), involved in translesion-replication is evolutionarily conserved from yeast and plants to higher eukaryotes. However, a large intermediate domain is inserted in REV3 of humans and mice. The domain has "DUF4683" region, which is significantly similar to human neurite extension and migration factor (NEXMIF).

Tulip mild mottle mosaic disease, caused by tulip mild mottle mosaic virus (TMMMV, species Ophiovirus tulipae), was first reported in Japan in 1979. TMMMV has a negative-sense ssRNA genome and is closely related to ophioviruses such as Mirafiori lettuce big vein virus (MLBVV, Ophiovirus mirafioriense). However, its complete nucleotide sequence has not yet been reported.

Crucial role of the cGAS N terminus in mediating flowable and functional cGAS-DNA condensate formation via DNA interactions.

Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A

January 2025

Department of General Surgery, The First Affiliated Hospital of University of Science and Technology of China, Key Laboratory of Immune Response and Immunotherapy, Center for Advanced Interdisciplinary Science Interdisciplinary Science & Biomedicine of Institute of Health and Medicine, Division of Life Sciences & Medicine, University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei 230027, Anhui, China.

The DNA-sensing protein cGAS plays a pivotal role in the innate immune response and pathogenesis of various diseases. DNA triggers liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) and enhances the enzymatic activity of cGAS. However, the regulatory mechanisms of the disordered N terminus remain unclear.

The occurrence of external L-glutamate at the Arabidopsis root tip triggers major changes in root architecture, but the mechanism of -L-Glu sensing is unknown. Members of the family of GLUTAMATE RECEPTOR-LIKE (GLR) proteins are known to act as amino acid-gated Ca-permeable channels and to have signalling roles in diverse plant processes. To investigate the possible role of GLRs in the root architectural response to L-Glu, we screened a collection of mutants with T-DNA insertions in each of the 20 AtGLR genes.
