Enhancing low-light images with natural colors poses a challenge due to camera processing variations and limited access to ground-truth lighting conditions. To address this, we propose Dimma, a semi-supervised approach that aligns with any camera using a small set of image pairs captured under extreme lighting conditions. Our method employs a convolutional mixture density network to replicate camera-specific noise present in dark images.

Wavelength Characteristics and Visual Function of Photochromic Contact Lenses in Indoor and Outdoor Conditions.

J Clin Med

November 2023

Department of Rehabilitation, Orthoptics and Visual Science Course, School of Allied Health Sciences, Kitasato University, Sagamihara 2520373, Kanagawa, Japan.

Purpose: To examine the wavelength characteristics of photochromic contact lenses (CL) and evaluate the impact of tinting on visual function in indoor, outdoor, and glare environments.

Methods: A total of 33 healthy individuals with refractive errors were recruited and fully corrected for refractive errors. Three groups were established, including non-activated photochromic CL, activated photochromic CL, and lenses without photochromic properties, which replicated the dimming characteristics of CL.

A comfortable and healthy lighting environment cannot only make people comfortable and improve work efficiency, but also avoid visual fatigue caused by the discomfortable lighting environment. In order to solve these problems, this paper proposes an intelligent lighting system that takes natural lighting and the occupancy situation as input and dimming factor (0<<1) as output. The linear function between illuminance of the working surface and natural lighting, the occupancy situation, illuminance components of adjacent luminaires, and dimming factor is obtained through the control algorithm.

The Superior Colliculus/Lateral Posterior Thalamic Nuclei in Mice Rapidly Transmit Fear Visual Information Through the Theta Frequency Band.

Neuroscience

August 2022

Henan Key Laboratory of Brain Science and Brain-Computer Interface Technology, Zhengzhou University, 450001 Zhengzhou, China; School of Life Sciences, Zhengzhou University, 450001 Zhengzhou, China. Electronic address:

Animals perceive threat information mainly from vision, and the subcortical visual pathway plays a critical role in the rapid processing of fear visual information. The superior colliculus (SC) and lateral posterior (LP) nuclei of the thalamus are key components of the subcortical visual pathway; however, how animals encode and transmit fear visual information is unclear. To evaluate the response characteristics of neurons in SC and LP thalamic nuclei under fear visual stimuli, extracellular action potentials (spikes) and local field potential (LFP) signals were recorded under looming and dimming visual stimuli.

Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) have been widely utilized in machine vision lighting systems such as the process monitoring system in the additive manufacturing field, owing to their long life, high illumination efficiency, and controllable dimming. The quality of the lighting system directly affects the efficiency and accuracy of the entire monitoring system. However, existing designs cannot meet the optical efficiency and uniformity requirements at short lighting distances and small inspection areas with mixed multi-spectrum channels.
