Molecular electronics exhibiting resistive-switching memory features hold great promise for the next generation of digital technology. In this work, electrosynthesis of ruthenium polypyridyl nanoscale oligomeric films is demonstrated on an indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode followed by an ITO top contact deposition yielding large-scale (junction area = 0.7 × 0.

Mixed fermentation can enhance the flavor and aroma of fruit wine, but the mechanisms driving this enhancement remain unclear. This study used non-targeted metabolomics to analyze the effects of mixed versus single fermentation on plum wine flavor. The results showed that compared with single fermentation, mixed fermentation reduced ethanol content and the ability to consume reducing sugars.

Impact of accumulation of organic acids on the degradation of cellulose in historic paper.

Carbohydr Polym

March 2025

Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, University of Ljubljana, Večna pot 113, 1000 Ljubljana, Slovenia. Electronic address:

The acidity of historic paper, a property crucial for its preservation, is thought to mainly depend on the type of sizing. However, this research shows that during its degradation, paper acidity increases mainly due to the formation of non-volatile carboxylic acids, which accelerate acid-catalysed hydrolysis. Whether and how this accumulation depends on paper composition has not been studied systematically so far.

Exploration of the effects of geographical regions on the volatile and non-volatile metabolites of black tea utilizing multiple intelligent sensory technologies and untargeted metabolomics analysis.

Food Chem X

October 2024

Key Laboratory of Biology, Genetics and breeding of Special Economic Animals and Plants, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Tea Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Hangzhou 310008, China.

Geographical regions profoundly influence the flavor characteristics of Congou black tea (CBT). In this study, 35 CBT samples from 7 geographical regions were comprehensively characterized by integrated multiple intelligent sensory technologies and untargeted metabolomics analysis. A satisfactory discrimination was achieved through the fusion of multiple intelligent sensory technologies (RY = 0.

Cytochrome P450 (CYP) 3A4 plays a major role in drug metabolism. Its activity could be determined by non-invasive and cost-effective assays, such as breath analysis, for the personalised monitoring of drug response. For the first time, we identify an isotopically unlabelled CYP3A4 substrate, tolterodine that leads to the formation of a non-toxic volatile metabolite, acetone, which could potentially be applied to monitor CYP3A4 activity in humans.
