Background: Radiation induced secondary cancers are a rare but severe late effect after breast conserving therapy. Intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) is increasingly used during breast conserving surgery. The purpose of this analysis was to estimate secondary cancer risks after IORT compared to other modalities of breast radiotherapy (APBI - accelerated partial breast irradiation, EBRT - external beam radiotherapy).

Objectives: We have previously reported in two randomized controlled trials that cognitive intervention and exercises more effectively improved isokinetic trunk muscle strength than lumbar fusion and postoperative rehabilitation in patients with chronic low back pain. The aim of the present study was to predict changes in muscle strength as regard to changes in pain, function, fear-avoidance beliefs (self-rated questionnaires), changes in cross-sectional area and density of the back muscles and treatment.
Methods: We assessed 1) isokinetic trunk muscle strength; 2) cross-sectional area and density of back muscles by computer-tomography (CT); and 3) pain, function, fear-avoidance beliefs, and self- efficacy for pain in the included patients at baseline and 1-year follow-up.

Patients suffering form epilepsy have an increased risk for fractures. Contractions of strong paraspinal muscles can lead to compression fracture of the mid-thoracic spine.

Different methods have been established for bone density measurements such as dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA), quantitative computertomography (QCT), and scintigraphy (VQ-Scan). There are hints that magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) might become a new option for the evaluation of bone density. The aim of this study was to investigate correlations between MRI vs.
