The synthesis and isolation of symmetrical anhydrides of N alpha-9-fluorenylmethyloxycarbonyl (Fmoc) amino acids using water soluble carbodiimide is described. These compounds were used in a solid phase peptide synthesis of methionine-enkephalin on a p-benzyloxybenzyl ester polystyrene 1% divinylbenzene resin support. Homogeneous free pentapeptide was obtained in 42% overall yield. The Fmoc amino acid symmetrical anhydrides were stable during prolonged storage (2 years of 0 degrees) and offer advantages over present "Fmoc solid phase" methods which use anhydrides formed in situ.

Plywood is lightweight, strong, and durable, making it a widely used material in building decoration and furniture areas. In this study, formaldehyde-free, high-strength plywood was prepared through the incorporation of carbon fiber fabrics (CFFs) as reinforcement layers and their bonding with maleic anhydride polyethylene (MAPE) films. Various tests were performed to assess the impact of the carbon fiber fabric positioning on the physical and mechanical properties of plywood, including tensile shear strength, flexural strength, water absorption, thickness swelling, and electro-thermal properties.

Herein, we report an oxygen insertion in activated ketones from simple inorganic carbonates for the synthesis of symmetric aromatic anhydrides. For the first time, LiCO acts as an oxygen source and the generated symmetric aromatic anhydrides undergo Pummerer-type rearrangement to access α-benzoyloxy-thioethers. Attractively, this protocol occurs under metal-, ligand-, and oxidant-free conditions and is compatible with a wide range of substrates.

To improve the interface stability between Li-rich Mn-based oxide cathodes and electrolytes, it is necessary to develop new polymer electrolytes. Here, we report an entanglement association polymer electrolyte (PVFH-PVCA) based on a poly (vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVFH) matrix and a copolymer stabilizer (PVCA) prepared from acrylonitrile, maleic anhydride, and vinylene carbonate. The entangled structure of the PVFH-PVCA electrolyte imparts excellent mechanical properties and eliminates the stress arising from dendrite growth during cycling and forms a stable interface layer, enabling Li//Li symmetric cells to cycle steadily for more than 4500 h at 8 mA cm.
