Adverse drug reactions (ADR) remain a challenge in modern healthcare, particularly given the increasing complexity of therapeutics. WHO's definition of an adverse drug reaction as a response to a drug that is noxious and unintended and occurs at doses normally used in man for the prophylaxis, diagnosis or therapy of disease, or for modification of physiological function. This definition underscores the importance of monitoring and mitigating unintended drug effects, particularly for widely used medications like valproic acid (VPA).

Urban ornamental shrubs have significant potential for restoring cadmium (Cd)-contaminated soil. The Cd enrichment characteristics and tolerance mechanisms of Buxus sinica and Ligustrum × vicaryi were investigated through a simulated pot pollution experiment. Specifically, the Cd content and accumulation in different plant tissues, the subcellular distribution and chemical forms of Cd in the roots, and the effects of Cd on the ultrastructure of root cells under various Cd concentrations (0, 25, 50, 100, and 200 mg kg⁻) were analyzed.

Scaffolds for regenerative therapy can be made from natural or synthetic polymers, each offering distinct benefits. Natural biopolymers like chitosan (CS) are biocompatible and biodegradable, supporting cell interactions, but lack mechanical strength. Synthetic polymers like polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) provide superior mechanical strength and cost efficiency but are not biodegradable or supportive of cell adhesion.

Dichlorobenzene is beneficial to industries, however, the release of this compound into the environment causes significant damage to ecosystems and human health, as it exhibits resistance to biodegradation. Here, we show that chlorophenol and resorcinol are synthesized from 1,3-dichlorobenzene in a water ice environment (1) directly on a poly-crystalline gold surface and (2) after low-energy (<12 eV) electron irradiation of admixture films. For the latter, at energies below 5.

Hydroxyl radicals (OH), the most potent oxidants among reactive oxygen species (ROS), are a major contributor to oxidative damage of biomacromolecules, including DNA, lipids, and proteins. The overproduction of OH is implicated in the pathogenesis of numerous diseases such as cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and some cardiovascular pathologies. Given the localized nature of OH-induced damage, detecting OH, specifically near DNA and within organelles, is crucial for understanding their pathological roles.
