Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease whose pathogenesis is not fully understood to date. One of the suggested mechanisms for its development is NETosis, which involves the release of a specific network consisting of chromatin, proteins, and enzymes from neutrophils, stimulating the immune system. One of its markers is citrullinated histone H3 (H3Cit).

This study aims to compare the accuracy of Demirjian's and Cameriere's methods in determining adult age at the 18-year threshold using mandibular third molars in the Thai population. Panoramic radiograph images of 504 healthy subjects aged between 14 and 23 years were retrospectively collected. The developmental stages of mandibular third molars were evaluated using Demirjian's method, while the maturity index of mandibular third molars (I3M) was assessed using Cameriere's method.

The death and clearance of nurse cells is a consequential milestone in Drosophila melanogaster oogenesis. In preparation for oviposition, the germline-derived nurse cells bequeath to the developing oocyte all their cytoplasmic contents and undergo programmed cell death. The death of the nurse cells is controlled non-autonomously and is precipitated by epithelial follicle cells of somatic origin acquiring a squamous morphology and acidifying the nurse cells externally.

Sexual and reproductive health is an essential part of comprehensive medical care. As the field of medicine becomes more specialized and siloed and the diagnostic work-up in surgery more advanced, the risk of anchoring diagnoses and partitioning of care increases. Thus, the fundamentals of a complete patient history and review of each body system remain critical in ensuring that surgeons establish a broad differential diagnosis; provide comprehensive, well-rounded care to patients; and create opportunities for patient counseling and interventions.

Chronic low-grade inflammation observed in older adults, termed inflammaging, is a common feature underlying a multitude of aging-associated maladies including a decline in hematopoietic activity. However, whether suppression of inflammaging can preserve hematopoietic health span remains unclear, in part because of a lack of tools to measure inflammaging within hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). Here, we identify thrombospondin-1 (Thbs1) as an essential regulator of inflammaging within HSCs.
