The antenatal diagnosis of holoprosencephaly seems to need study of the interhemispheric fissure which may or not be complete in lesser degrees of that disease, but also measuring of interorbital distance (I.O.D.) and I.O.D./B.P.D. (biparietal diameter) ratio. The two last parameters show the constant hypotelorism. These measures may be useful in all fetal congenital deformities which include facial dysmorphy with modification of the interorbital distance.

Surgical treatment of craniofacial cleft and orbital hypertelorism: a single-center cohort study.

Neurosurg Focus

January 2025

3ENT and Head and Neck Research Center and Department, The Five Senses Health Institute, School of Medicine, Iran University of Medical Sciences, Tehran, Iran.

Objective: Craniofacial clefts, characterized by congenital disruptions in the development of facial and cranial tissues, often present alongside orbital hypertelorism (ORH), an abnormal increase in the interorbital distance. These conditions pose significant challenges in craniofacial surgery due to the complex anatomical and functional considerations involved. This single-center cohort study retrospectively analyzed 22 patients diagnosed with craniofacial cleft syndromes and ORH who were treated at the Craniofacial Centre, Fatima Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Hospital between July 2016 and October 2023.

Dzihunia pseudoamudarjensis, new species, is described from the middle portion of the Great Fergana Canal in the Fergana Valley. The new species is distinguished from its congeners by having a complete lateral line with 84-86 pores, a slenderer caudal peduncle, a smaller dorsal and anal fin depth, and a wider interorbital distance. A key to Dzihunia species is provided.

Association between maxillary incisor width and craniofacial measurements: A cone beam computed tomography study.

J Prosthet Dent

Associate Professor, Department of Prosthetic Dental Sciences, College of Dentistry, Qassim University, Al-Mulaydah, Qassim, Saudi Arabia. Electronic address:

Statement Of Problem: Accurate prediction of maxillary central incisor width (CIW) is essential in prosthodontics for selecting appropriately sized denture teeth. While traditional methods exist, the digital era may offer more reliable techniques for anterior tooth selection.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between CIW and craniofacial measurements derived from cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans to identify predictors for CIW and examine possible sexual dimorphism.

A new species, , from the dry-hot valleys near the Yarlung Zangbo River in Re Village, Jindong Countryside, Lang County, Linzhi City, Xizang Autonomous Region, China, is described herein based upon the integrative taxonomic results combining molecular phylogenetic systematics and morphological characteristic comparisons. Our molecular phylogeny was inferred by combining three mitochondrial gene fragments (//), and it indicated a distinct differentiation between the new species and species complex, with obvious genetic distances ( 9.9-11.
