Background: Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is one of the most common nonheritable causes of Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, there is lack of effective treatment for both AD and TBI. We posit that network-based integration of multi-omics and endophenotype disease module coupled with large real-world patient data analysis of electronic health records (EHR) can help identify repurposable drug candidates for the treatment of TBI and AD.

Center for Biomedical Semantics and Data Intelligence (CBSDI), University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Houston, TX, USA.

Background: Findings regarding the protective effect of Angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) against Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) and cognitive decline have been inconclusive.

Method: A total of 6,390,826 hypertensive individuals were included in this study from Optum's de-identified Clinformatics® Data Mart. We identified antihypertensive medication (AHM) drug classes and subclassified ARBs by blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability.

Background: Hypertension is a risk factor for cognitive impairment and dementia. Anti-hypertensives (AHT) are commonly used in old age, but their association with cognition and brain pathology is not well understood.

Method: To investigate the relation of AHT with change in cognitive function and postmortem brain pathology, we evaluated 4,207 older persons without known dementia at enrollment and a subset of 1880 participants who died and came to autopsy.

Background And Aim: As a classical formula to invigorate blood circulation, Huoxue Tongluo Qiwei Decoction (HTQD) can effectively treat hypertensive erectile dysfunction (ED), but its exact mechanism of action is not yet clear. The goal of this research was to explore the potential mechanism of HTQD in improving hypertensive erectile dysfunction in rats through transcriptomics, network pharmacology, and associated animal experimentations.

Methods: The HTQD chemical constituents were screened using high-performance liquid chromatography- tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS).

Background: We sought to comprehensively describe drug-related components associated with acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), describing the incidence of drug-related AKI, the proportion of preventable AKI, identified the various drugs potentially associated with it, explored the risk factors, and assessed the 1-year incidences of the recurrence of drug-related AKI, kidney failure, and death.

Methods: CKD-REIN is a French national prospective cohort of 3033 nephrology outpatients with a confirmed diagnosis of CKD (eGFR <60 ml/min/1.73 m²).
