Background & Aims: Chronic liver diseases pose a serious public health issue. Identifying patients at risk for advanced liver fibrosis is crucial for early intervention. The Fibrosis-4 score (FIB-4), a simple non-invasive test, classifies patients into three risk groups for advanced fibrosis.

Background: There is a need to improve risk stratification of primary cutaneous melanomas to better guide adjuvant therapy. Taking into account that haematoxylin and eosin (HE)-stained tumour tissue contains a huge amount of clinically unexploited morphological informations, we developed a weakly-supervised deep-learning approach, SmartProg-MEL, to predict survival outcomes in stages I to III melanoma patients from HE-stained whole slide image (WSI).
Methods: We designed a deep neural network that extracts morphological features from WSI to predict 5-y overall survival (OS), and assign a survival risk score to each patient.

Thoracic ultrasonography (TUS) has emerged as a critical tool in the diagnosis and management of respiratory diseases in cattle, particularly bovine respiratory disease (BRD), which is one of the most economically significant health issues in feedyard operations. The objective of this review is to explore TUS in veterinary medicine, including the historical development, methodologies, and clinical applications for diagnosing and prognosing respiratory diseases. This review also emphasizes the importance of operator training, noting that even novice operators can achieve diagnostic consistency with proper instructions.

Background: Colon adenocarcinoma (COAD) is a malignancy with a high mortality rate and complex biological characteristics and heterogeneity, which poses challenges for clinical treatment. Anoikis is a type of programmed cell death that occurs when cells lose their attachment to the extracellular matrix (ECM), and it plays a crucial role in tumor metastasis. However, the specific biological link between anoikis and COAD, as well as its mechanisms in tumor progression, remains unclear, making it a potential new direction for therapeutic strategy research.

Persistent infection with high-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) is a major cause of cervical cancer. The effectiveness of current HPV-DNA testing, which is crucial for early detection, is limited in several aspects, including low sensitivity, accuracy issues, and the inability to perform comprehensive hrHPV typing. To address these limitations, we introduce MTIOT (Multiple subTypes In One Time), a novel detection method that utilizes machine learning with a new multichannel integration scheme to enhance HPV-DNA analysis.
