The mucosal content of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) and norepinephrine (NE) in different parts of the human gastrointestinal tract has been studied. Peroperative biopsies of normal mucosa were collected during various gastrointestinal operations. The amines were extracted and assayed by liquid chromatography with electrochemical detection (LCEC). The concentration of 5-HT was generally approximately 12 times higher than the NE concentration and the highest concentration for both amines was observed in the duodenum, 14 micrograms/g and 1.5 micrograms/g wet weight for 5-HT and NE respectively.

Purpose: Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-targeted therapies have shown promise in treating -amplified metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). Identifying optimal biomarkers for treatment decisions remains challenging. This study explores the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in predicting treatment responses to trastuzumab plus pertuzumab (TP) in patients with -amplified mCRC from the phase II TRIUMPH trial.

Background: The rising prevalence of depression among cancer patients is alarming. This study examines the relationship between the Oxidative Balance Score (OBS)-a composite measure of dietary and lifestyle factors-and depression, including specific depressive symptoms in this population.

Methods: Data were analyzed from 3,280 adult cancer patients collected in NHANES from 2005-2020.

Background: Lymphatic metastasis in gastric cancer (GC) profoundly influences its prognosis, but the precise mechanism remains elusive. In this study, we identified the long noncoding RNA MIR181A2HG as being upregulated in GC and associated with LNs metastasis and prognosis.

Methods: The expression of MIR181A2HG in GC was identified through bioinformatics screening analysis and qRT-PCR validation.
