The theoretical study of instabilities, thermal fluctuations, and topological defects in the crystal-rotator-I-rotator-II (X-R-R) phase transitions of -alkanes has been conducted. First, we examine the nature of the R-R phase transition in nanoconfined alkanes. We propose that under confined conditions, the presence of quenched random orientational disorder makes the R phase unstable.

Functional flexible adsorbents and their potential utility.

Chem Commun (Camb)

January 2025

Bernal Institute, Department of Chemical Sciences, University of Limerick, Limerick V94T9PX, Republic of Ireland.

Physisorbents are poised to address global challenges such as CO capture, mitigation of water scarcity and energy-efficient commodity gas storage and separation. Rigid physisorbents, those adsorbents that retain their structures upon gas or vapour exposure, are well studied in this context. Conversely, cooperatively flexible physisorbents undergo long-range structural transformations stimulated by guest exposure.

Introduction: Pralsetinib is a RET inhibitor found to have antitumor activity in advanced, metastatic, fusion-positive NSCLC.

Objective: To assess real-world efficacy of pralsetinib and treatment sequences in patients with RET fusion-positive NSCLC.

Design: Retrospective study of consecutive patients enrolled in the French expanded-access program for pralsetinib from December 1, 2019, to December 31, 2021.

The human ankle joint complex, consisting of calcaneus, talus, and tibia, is often simplified as a single functional ankle joint, neglecting the motion of the talus. Understanding the individual contributions of the talus and calcaneus is crucial for comprehending ankle joint complex function in healthy populations, and alterations in function that may exist in clinical conditions. To achieve accurate bone kinematics, high-resolution biplanar videoradiography was used with participants engaged in walking and running (n = 9) and hopping (n = 9) with no overlap in participants.

Development of sustainable synthesis methods of organic electrode materials (OEMs) for sodium (Na)-ion batteries must take hold rapidly in large scale-synthesis if subsequent commercialisation is to occur. We report a facile and rapid gram-scale synthesis method based on microwave irradiation for disodium naphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylate (Na-NDC) and mono/disodium benzene-1,4-dicarboxylate (Na-BDC) as model compounds. Phase purity and formation of materials was confirmed by various characterisation techniques.
