Ibuprofen, a widely used NSAID from the aryl propionic acid class, effectively relieves pain, fever, and inflammation. On prolonged use, it leads to gastrointestinal, hepatic, and renal toxicities, particularly gastrointestinal ulcers. These side effects are largely attributed to the carboxylic acid functional group common to NSAIDs.

In this study, antiulcer activity of ethanolic extract and solvent fractions of the aerial part of was investigated using ethanol-induced model of gastric ulceration in rats. The results showed that ethyl acetate, non-polar components and diethyl ether fractions have a remarkable antiulcerogenic activity; because they exhibited control-ulcer protection by 85.2%, 77.

Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) is a common surgical treatment for morbid obesity, but rare complications involving the excluded gastric remnant can pose significant challenges. A 65-year-old female with a history of RYGB presented with sudden onset of left upper quadrant abdominal pain, bloating, nausea, and loss of appetite. Laboratory tests revealed leukocytosis.
