Aggressiveness and phylogenetic relationship of associated with crown and root rot in pyrethrum plants.

Plant Dis

January 2025

The University of Melbourne, Faculty of Science, School of Agriculture, Food and Ecosystem Sciences, Parkville, Victoria, Australia;

In Australia, pyrethrum (Tanacetum cinerariifolium) cultivation provides a significant portion of the global supply of natural insecticidal pyrethrins. However, crown and root rots, along with stunted plant growth and plant loss during winter, are significant issues affecting certain sites. Several isolates of the Fusarium oxysporum species complex (FOSC) have been identified as causal agents of crown and root rot in pyrethrum, highlighting these as key pathogens contributing to this decline.

Construction of tetrahedral mesh phantom for Chinese women of childbearing age.

J Radiol Prot

January 2025

Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Houston, Houston, 77204, UNITED STATES.

Although the Boundary Representation (BREP) method creates detailed surface phantoms of Chinese women of childbearing age, these phantoms cannot be directly used in Monte Carlo simulations. They must first be converted into voxel phantoms, a process that may diminish some of the inherent advantages of the surface phantoms. Therefore, the aim of this study is to construct a tetrahedral mesh (TM) phantom of Chinese women of childbearing age based on the BREP phantom, incorporating micron-level structural refinements to certain organ tissues while maintaining the original model's structure.

Capacitive-based radiofrequency (Rf) radiation at 27 MHz offers a non-invasive approach for inducing hyperthermia, making it a promising technique for thermal cancer therapy applications. To achieve focused and site-specific hyperthermia, external material is required that efficiently convert Rf radiation into localized heat. Nanomaterials capable of absorbing Rf energy and convert into heat for targeted ablation are of critical importance.

Brucellosis, caused by a facultative intracellular gram-negative coccobacillus, is one of the most common zoonotic infections worldwide. Very rarely, brucellosis can cause periprosthetic joint infections (PJI). In this case-based literature review, we summarize the current medical literature regarding Brucella PJI, with the aim to raise awareness among clinicians, particularly in non-endemic areas.

Atypical lipomatous tumors/well-differentiated liposarcomas (ALT/WDLPS) are low-grade, slow-growing, and locally aggressive tumors. We investigated clinical outcomes and recurrence factors for ALT/WDLPS of the extremities. This is retrospective study across three institutions which included patients who underwent surgery for ALT/WDLPS from 2001 to 2019.
