The Impact of Cell-Intrinsic STAT6 Protein on Donor T Cell-Mediated Graft-Versus-Tumor Effect.

Bone marrow transplantation (BMT) is mainly performed to restore an anti-tumor immune response, called the graft-versus-tumor (GVT) effect, against leukemia, myeloma and lymphoma. This GVT reactivity is driven by donor T cells, and it can also cause lethal graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). We previously demonstrated that the colonization of mice with helminths preserves the GVT response while suppressing GVHD.

Tolerogenic dendritic cells with professional antigen presentation via major histocompatibility complex molecules, co-stimulatory molecules (CD80/86), and interleukin 10 production have attracted significant attention as cellular therapies for autoimmune, allergic, and graft-versus-host diseases. In this study, we developed a cell culture dish equipped with polycation-porphyrin-conjugate-immobilized glass (PA-HP-G) to stimulate immature murine dendritic cell (iDCs). Upon irradiation with a red light at 635 nm toward the PA-HP-G surface, singlet oxygen was generated by the immobilized porphyrins on the PA-HP-G surface.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to develop a straightforward, easy-to-use online dynamic nomogram for the identification of children who are at high risk of developing acute kidney injury (AKI) after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT).

Methods: This was a two-center study in which 242 children in Henan Provincial Children's Hospital composed the training cohort, and 115 children in the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University composed the validation cohort. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was used to compare survival between children with nonacute kidney injury (NAKI) and children with AKI.

A 63-year-old man was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) at the age of 62 by the hematology department. The patient underwent four cycles of azacitidine (AZA) therapy, followed by successful bone marrow transplantation (BMT). Subsequently, he was hospitalized twice for graft-versus-host disease (GVHD).

Background: Pathogen reduction (PR) may be used as an alternative to gamma or x-ray irradiation (I) to prevent transfusion associated graft versus host disease (TA-GVHD) if the pathogen reduction technology has been shown to inactivate residual lymphocytes. However, as I is considered the gold standard for reducing the risk of TA-GVHD, some centers continue to perform I in addition to PR. This study investigated the effect of concurrent pathogen reduction and irradiation (PR/I) on the biochemical characteristics of apheresis platelets at day 1, 5, and 7 of storage at room temperature.
