Range-gated pulsed Doppler echocardiography has been reported to be a useful noninvasive bedside technic for detecting ductal left-to-right shunting in premature infants. We studied 30 premature infants with a birth weight of less than 1,500 gm, using a 5 MHz system developed by Advanced Technology Laboratories. An umbilical artery catheter was used to obtain a contrast aortogram. Twenty-three infants had both a positive flush aortogram and a continuous turbulence documented by Doppler echocardiography. A clinically audible murmur was present in 17 of these patients. In six infants there was no Doppler evidence of PDA. In five of this last group there was also a negative flush aortogram. The excellent correlation found between the Doppler and aortographic studies suggests that this noninvasive technic is very sensitive for detecting ductal left-to-right shunting, even in the absence of an audible murmur.

Pancreatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PanIN) is the most common precursor lesion of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), which has poor prognosis with a short median overall survival of 6-12 months and a low 5-year survival rate of approximately 3%. It is crucial to remove PanIN lesions to prevent the development of invasive PDAC, as PDAC spreads rapidly outside the pancreas. This review aims to provide the latest knowledge on PanIN risk, pathology, cellular origin, genetic susceptibility, and diagnosis, while identifying research gaps that require further investigation in this understudied area of precancerous lesions.

Background: Hypoxia-inducible factor-1-alpha (HIF-1α) has the potential to predict the neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) response in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). This study aimed to assess the relationship between the pathological response and intratumoral HIF-1α expression in patients with PDAC receiving NAC, and investigate the predictive value of contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) features in HIF-1α expression.
Methods: A total of 58 patients from three centers with pathologically confirmed PDAC who underwent NAC followed by surgery were retrospectively enrolled in this study.

Background: Routine screening to detect silent but deadly cancers such as pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) can significantly improve survival, creating an important need for a convenient screening test. High-resolution proton (1H) magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) of plasma identifies circulating metabolites that can allow detection of cancers such as PDAC that have highly dysregulated metabolism.
Methods: We first acquired 1H MR spectra of human plasma samples classified as normal, benign pancreatic disease and malignant (PDAC).

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma is a devastating disease which is associated with an increase in cancer-related death in the USA. The minority of patients are cured by surgery alone and typically require adjuvant chemotherapy in order to improve clinical outcomes. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) is an emerging technology whereby microscopic levels of minimal residual disease (MRD) can be detected in the bloodstream.

Pleomorphic adenoma (PA), the most common salivary gland tumor, presents unique challenges due to its diverse clinicopathologic features. The objective of this case series is to highlight the implication of detailed histopathological examination to guide appropriate diagnosis. This study reviews 10 cases of PA diagnosed at B.
